Episode 4 recap - Eager beavers

Now that he's on the block, Kevin knows he has to find something to get himself out of the hole he's dug. And that something falls right into his lap when he overhears Sindy talking to some of the other girls about how they need to make sure Brittnee stays. What a dumbass, not checking to see if the bathroom was empty when talking game. Kevin goes straight to Graig with this info knowing that it'll rile him up and he'll spread it everywhere. He also tells Bobby, and now they're all afraid of a non-existent girls alliance. What a great turnaround for Kevin, now he has a really good chance of getting off the block even if he doesn't win. Godfrey and Johnny are picked for the veto to back this up, although Brittnee does manage to pick Willow - wouldn't Sindy have been a better choice?

The veto competition sees them all dressed like beavers. Johnny jokes that he's "not a fan of the beaver" - wow, they let him say that! Jordan also makes a risque comment about being attracted to beaver Willow...I'll be honest, she gave me wood too. Anyway, the actual challenge involves dragging logs through cold, cold water. A few trips through, and Bobby looks like he's having a seizure. Johnny is first to get to the puzzle but his brain is shutting down from the cold. Kevin is one letter away, and just has to figure out it's chomping block, not chopping block. Once he does, he holds the power of veto and is safe.

Big Brother has another task for them, when the houseguests have to align themselves based on criteria and Johnny has to guess what they are from the DR. Godfrey and Bruno seem to be using it to downplay their strengths, particularly when they go low on the "likelihood of winning Big Brother" question. Jordan is pissed when he's put up near the top, fearing it might put a target on his back. Johnny gets them all right and wins a pool party, and it's funny to see them knock over the Johnny model in celebration.

The pool party is a lot of fun when a game of spin the bottle begins. Johnny gets to kiss Zach and Kevin. Bobby also gets a super awkward kiss with Ashleigh. Sorry Bobby, but Zach is the one she really wants. It's so cute to see such a hot girl reduced to a blubbering mess around a crush.

Bobby has two targets in mind for his replacement nom - the brains (Naeha) or the brawn (Sindy). Naeha gets to Bobby with one goal in mind: throw Sindy under the bus. She shouldn't feel too guilty about it - Sindy did this to herself. Sindy also goes to Bobby and tries to make a deal, promising him two weeks of safety if he stays. C'mon Sindy, you can do better than that - offer to give him your firstborn son if it keeps you off the damn block. Kevin takes himself off the block, and Bobby puts Sindy up.

Will Sindy's redemption arc be cut short, or will useless Brittnee get cut? We'll find out on Wednesday!

Episode 3 recap - Jordan in the middle

We start with the HoH competition, which is really tailor-made for rock climber Bobby. Although Sindy puts up a good fight and amusingly tries to use her ass to win it, Bobby is the one who comes out on top, to the surprise of no-one. Admittedly a lot of people were throwing it, such as Zach and Kevin, who was literally the second to step off to comfort a crying Brittnee.

Bobby wants to pretend that he has no alliance, but he's really loyal to a group of the cool kids called the Chop Shop. And thanks to Zach, he's found the perfect excuse to take out a social threat like Kevin under the guise of nominating "the first two who fell off". It seems Zach isn't as on board with the Chop Shop as Bobby and Graig are, as he spills the beans to Jordan. Jordan also has Kevin coming up to him and forming an alliance, leaving Jordan in an incredible position, with two strong guys feeding him info from different sides of the house. He makes it clear who his number 1 is though...Newport (Zach).

The first eight eliminated from the HoH have another competition now, called a "slop-off". They have to keep five slop buckets up on a beam to not be a Have Not. Jordan throws the competition against Bruno...wait, people throw Have Nots now? Kevin also tries to throw it by randomly attacking Bobby with a sponge, but Brittnee is so bad that he wins anyway. The closest match is between Zach and Godfrey, and Godfrey is gutted to lose out. Naeha also joins them in the Have Not room which is a weird prison with a flashing siren.

I've raved about Jordan a lot, but Sarah has impressed me as well. She got a cute character moment tonight when she talks about how she defies all of society's labels, but she's no slouch in the game either, making early bonds with Brittnee and Naeha. She spends the night in the HoH room trying to feel out Bobby (and not in a Sindy way), testing the waters as subtly as she can for if he wants to talk game. However, Bobby stays tight-lipped about his intentions.

Bobby walks into the vault to make his nominations, which are now made on a touch screen computer. After locking in his picks, he reveals them to the houseguests by pulling a lever that brings them up on the screen. It's a convoluted process, but it looks pretty cool. Anyway, Brittnee cries again when she gets nominated, and Kevin talks about what a dumb move it was because he wasn't coming after him. Sorry Kev, you're just not as smooth as you thought you were.

Episode 2 recap - Bye bye boobies!

Well it's the first eviction night with either Risha or Pilar going home, and it becomes clear that Risha is using her assets to try and stay in the house. She tries to seduce Kevin, but he seems pretty resistant to her charms. She also goes topless in the hot tub. Kevin is doing a good job flirting though, as he sleeps next to gay guy Johnny, who seems to think he has a shot. But Kevin's DRs make it clear that once again, Kevin is not as into it as he is.

The first step towards getting all their stuff back is to keep giant balloons held up in the air for 5 hours each. But Kevin is given the option to earn some money if he sabotages the task. He debates it back and forth before deciding to go for it, bursting the balloon with a stray earring. Seems like the deciding factor was that Canada would love it, which was a little lame. Luckily, it seems like Brittnee and Sarah are onto him, talking about how suspicious it was after the fact.

Using the numbers from the balloons, the houseguests then had to crack the code to open the safe. Johnny was appointed as the code-cracker but gave up after a million unsuccessful attempts. Zach and Jordan then manage to steal his thunder and get the vault open. All they have to do then is place all the furniture in the correct spots in the right amount of time, which they do easily.

Sindy is making up for her bad first impression pretty well by befriending Risha, who has...isolated herself from the house. Great strategy when you're on the block! She's also managed to mend fences with Pilar, so she's good with whoever stays. Zach and Jordan meanwhile come together for the first official alliance of the season. Jordan picked him especially because he possesses "all the attributes I don't have", and because nobody would expect the nerd and the jock to align. That's not as original as you think, dude.

So now we come to the eviction, and it's a big shock for the houseguests to find out Canada is voting. The two of them have to go into the vault to retrieve envelopes and it's funny to see how long it takes them to find them when they were right in front of them. Risha ends up being evicted, and Pilar is safe.. While we still haven't seen much from Pilar, I think she's adorable. Risha might have caused more drama but she was always doomed to be an early boot. But it's not over yet, as Risha will have a shot to go back into the house!

And so we sign off with the houseguests beginning their first real HoH competition, which is to keep themselves perched on a wall. We'll find out who wins next episode.

Episode 1 recap - That's recap with an R!

Wow, here we are with Big Brother Canada 3! How do you top season 2? Well they're off to a good start with the awesomely cruel initial twist, which sees all the house's items locked up in a vault. They're going to have to earn everything, presumably in challenges, and I love it.

As for the cast...giggly cheerleader Pilar found her way into my heart pretty quickly. Cowgirl Ashleigh also...did things to me. And Risha, man, is she the third hottest girl in there? I love how she's not afraid to emphasize her sex appeal. Goofy snowboarder Willow seems a lot of fun too. Jordan, though...I was open to liking you, but the overabundance of chess metaphors (chess has jack shit in common with Big Brother), desperation for a showmance and taking a trick from Peter with his hype-up-the-crowd means now I'm not so sure. Could it be that Johnny is the superior fan? I loved his "dreamboard" and praying that he isn't another Aneal got a laugh out of me.

And so then after a few WTF reactions to the empty house, they all sit on the floor and introduce themselves. Sindy "with an S" gives everyone the correct spelling three times. Who the fuck cares? It's not like you're gonna get a pen and paper at any point and be able to write it down. You don't even have beds. Sarah meanwhile is just playing up her role as the non-threatening stoner. I had got major Anick vibes at first but now I think she can do much better.

Arisa then drops the next major twist on them...they are all HoH. I love this one too because it forces all of them to show their hand a little bit. Most of the girls nominate other girls, although Pilar and Sarah pick boys, perhaps showing they are willing to make big moves. I was surprised at how many votes Bruno got. Sindy with an "S" gets the most votes predictably, and Risha is nominated also.

We are then thrown right into a veto competition which involves climbing over a net to get puzzle pieces. Bobby's rock-climbing serves him very well, and Kevin is happy the boys are dominating. Could there already be a boy's alliance?  Kevin does the puzzle and now has to work on his combination lock. He decides to try every number, which is a slow method. Sindy gives it a go next, and she's trying for the one that "feels" right. Sindy gets it and saves herself by winning the veto. Suck it, Kevin!

Sindy gets to name the replacement herself. She chooses Pilar. Nooo! She had a chance to get a big threat out, and she picks Pilar? She could've even used the excuse that it was fairer to pick someone who played in the veto. I know she maybe didn't want to make enemies, but still..

Anyway, it's Pilar vs Risha on the block and Canada is voting to evict on little more than first impressions. I actually like Risha, but I'm pulling for Pilar to stay. For the sake of the twist, I hope the houseguests are thinking otherwise though.

Well that about does it for the season 3 premiere, I'd say we're already off to a strong start!
